BBC Mini Series (Period Dramas)

*Swoons*

The olden English charm never fails to get me.

I thought nothing could beat BBC's mini series, Pride and Prejudice (by Jane Austen).

Colin Firth as Mr Darcy was spectacular!

Heh. That was Colin Firth in 1995.

So yea, I thought that was it man. Mr Darcy at the top of my list.

That is, until, I've seen Mr John Thornton (Richard Armitage) of North & South written by Elizabeth Gaskell.

Screenshot of what is to be the best kissing scene ever (at least for BBC mini series)!

*Double swoons*

How can one express so much intensity with just a look of the eyes?
HOW?!

Richard Armitage...
He's definitely better than Michael Fassbender as Mr Rochester in Jane Eyre 2011.

Let's see Richard again!

Remember. John Thornton of North and South. Watch it!

Skip to 2.05 min mark to check out the intensed, yet gentle and earnest look he exudes. *screams*

Confessions of a bed linen thread count snob

Ever since Oprah Winfrey told the whole world about her amazing 1000 thread counts bed sheets, I've been fascinated with identifying thread counts of my (then) existing bed sheets, then seeking to acquire bed sheets with higher thread counts. heh.

And, No, I'm not part of Oprah's cult/"religion".

When I was younger, my mom's made a few sets of bed sheets for my sister and I. But there were only 2 designs- B&W Checkered Monochrome, and Pink Angels.
I still have 'em!

Being a kid, I didn't spare a thought if I'd slept on bed sheets. I'd sleep anywhere!

Thereafter, Cans and I just got hand-me-down bed sheets from our parents' double single beds (what I suspect to be like 250 thread counts).

Mom got me my first decent set of bed sheets at 400 thread counts- Off white base with embroided strawberries.

And that was after she learnt of my break-up with the then-bf.
=.=

Took me a heartbreak to get my first decent set of bed sheets!

I'd say that I had no idea why the set cloths would amount to that much, but I remember sleeping in them and wondering what a world of difference expensive bed sheets is!

Well, now, I've gradually developed a mental checklist when purchasing bed sheets:

1. Has to be a quilt set
2. Acceptable Design that brightens/complements my room
3. At least 450 thread counts
4. Within or slightly over budget allocated, depending on thread count.

I wouldn't say the higher the thread count, the better. It really depends on the material of the sheets as well and I guess, how the material has been processed. You could get 500 thread count sheets which would not be feeling as nice as one that is of 400 thread count.

I'm gonna have to save up to buy the most comfy bed sheets I can afford when and if I ever do get married!

Or I could just demand my future husband to buy excellent bed sheets as part of the dowry.

Who needs a roasted suckling pig? Really? That's just weird.

Ok. I've just Googled why is that so.
It seems that the suckling pig's symbolism include:
1.To show that the groom's family is very satisfied with the bride.
2.The bride proved to be a virgin

Heh.

I'm gonna be blunt and say that the suckling pig is totally redundant. And fattening.

And it's not like I've been to weddings whereby the bride is obviously no longer a virgin. Unless it's like another Miracle by the providence of God like the "immaculate conception". If u know what I mean...

I'd say, replace the pig with White 1000 thread count bed linens!

Quote of the day

“You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.
You're on your own. And you know what you know.
You are the guy who'll decide where to go.”

New year.

God has been good to me.

The only new year's resolution I have is to keep fit.
No point having a whole list of what-have-yous when I can't even fulfill at least 3 of them >.<

With Christmas and New Year's day gone, I'm only looking forward to the Lunar New year's eve.

The sole purpose of having family reunion dinner.

Forget "chu-yi" and the subsequent days of making appearances at relatives' residence.
I'm too old for "ang baos" anyways.

Here's what the adults would say this year:

1. Variations of how I've put on weight. The nasty ones and the "tactful" ones. There's really no tactful way to tell someone he/she has put on weight. It's ostensibly stating what's obvious already, therefore rendering it redundant. Stop it already.

2. The famous, "So what are you doing now?".
Ugh. I'd hate it this year as I've quit my job and have yet to apply for any ATM.

3. As if inquiring about "career status" is not enough, they'd have to go on an probe into your "love" life. "When are you planning to get married?", and the likes of it.
Well, at least I've a boyfriend now. So this is not that big of a deal. :)

4. Awkward conversation starters to fill in the silence while watching crap tv shows that had been repeated a thousand times by Mediacorp during CNYs.

At the very least, now that I'm no longer a student, I wouldn't have to worry about class tests and project assignments.

Iz muz start running!!! *the look of determination*
