Corporate networking events. We all hate it. But we absolutely have to patronise and 'own' such events.
I'm gonna be blunt and say I absolutely hate it. It's so pretentious.
Once in a rare moment or two, you connect with someone at events as such. But you go home with the name card in your pocket and ponder on the possibility of a hidden agenda.
Like come on, a business associate?
Call me skeptical, but whenever I see people hovering over a table at the restaurant exchanging handshakes and business cards whilst clad in a suit that's too many tads too dull, I just can't help but smirk at the heavily loaded self-serving conversations they're gonna have.
Come on, film me when some random sales personnel rings me up trying to sell a service or whatever. I just cannot stop trolling my eyes.
Maybe I'm not at that level where I'm gonna appreciate networking at corporate events.
Heck, I don't even like networking outside of work for ANY event at all.
No, not even if it's for 'fun'.
What's my kind of fun you ask?
A picnic in the garden but without the heat and humidity,
Maybe watching a movie or good drama series while curled up in bed,
Ehhh... A holiday?
I dont know. I'm not a fun person.
Nobody would ever describe me as fun or associate me with it.. That much I can assure you.
