那些年,我們一起追的女孩

A Taiwanese film that made it to Singapore's box office in the recent.
I've heard many good reviews about it. From colleagues, friends and family.
I've just finish watching it albeit outside of the cinema.
Can I just say that I'm glad I watched it. Outside the theatres? I'd be damned if I'd paid to watch this.
Overrated to say the least.
Perhaps people who's been telling me that it's good has pitched this against other Taiwanese films. Coz this is a miss for me.
Watchable though. Got a few cackles from it.
Something light-hearted and I can see how some people may relate to it.
I believe the novel might have been a better choice because I don't care much for the acting.
Acting was Baaaaad. Xept for the male lead, who happens to be rather cute btw. But even so, above amateurish at best. Perhaps it's my prejudice against Taiwanese 偶像剧. The male lead is definitely good compared to most Taiwanese acting though amateurish relative to the usual films.
There were many unnecessary scenes IMO. Like the one when the boys masturbated in class while the teacher had this wind-in-the-air-trying-to-be-sexy moment?! SERIOUSLY?! Who does that?! And that guy with the almost perpetual lump in his pants?! And which teenage boy in the right mind walks around the house naked when the mom is around? How would most people relate to that?
Stop planting ideas into your kids' innocent minds!
These scenes are rather distasteful IMO. Seriously perturbed. All it does is make me wonder if these things are normal in Taiwan. It's just weird. Period.
The girl's quite sweet looking though.
I don't feel connected to the characters at all. I can't relate to whatever they've been through and I'm most certainly shocked at some of the scenes.
Like I'd still be harping on the earlier scenes in utter distaste when they've moved on to the next scene.
Speaking of scenes.
The kissing scene is horrible. Verging on painful to watch.
It makes me self conscious of how I kiss now.
Seriously.
Please do not video tape me kissing. I'm afraid I'll never do it again.
Overall rating-- 2.5 stars out of 5. That's already generous as it is.
The acting and unnecessary scenes killed most of it for me.
