I'm not xenophobic. At least, I wasn't until my country's been (might as well) taken over by non citizens. Seated across me, during rush hour in the train, are two Chinese intl women ranting openly, in their PRC Chinese accent mind you.

I don't mean to eavesdrop, but I believe the content isn't something new and almost everyone within the vicinity can hear them loud and clear.

Chinese nationals Auntie rantings translated:

A: oh yes, this is the benefit of living in Singapore! If my LeLe (PRC junior I reckon) goes into the balloting list (primary schools I'm assuming) he's bound to be picked sooner or later! *creepy small laugh*
B: yes, and once your LeLe gets in, your little one can easily get in too!

*more incessant creepy PRC auntie laughters*

Yadda yadda yadda...

Is it weird that I should feel somewhat threatened and intimidated that there will be more of these loud PRC-accented women dressed in, I dunno, rags, that scream absolute fashion faux pas and their little LeLes that will be competition to my future offsprings (if any, that is)?

Seriously, how can I not? I've hrd of stories whereby these little LeLes haven taken up places in schools, leaving our local students in search of other schools, competing for a placement with other LeLes. Have we no privilege in being a citizen?! This is pure stupidity. You don't ask pure citizens to procreate while totally doing destructive things and giving them every other reasons not to do just that.

Then import all these loud PRCs to fill up the 'population to ensure growing economy'.

Seriously, even a social science/economist noob like me can make this observation. Grow a brain.

If you want to look at the macro scale, look internally first.

The wise man built his house upon the rocks. The foolish man built his house upon the sands.

I would urge authorities to take many steps away from the shores and fix its foundations first before anything.
